HUNTER VALENTINE TO BEGIN CANADIAN NATIONAL TOUR IN SASKATOON OCTOBER 24
THE BAND PLAY CMJ GIG IN NYC FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 AT FAT BABY

TORONTO – October 16, 2007 – It’s been a great year for the rock/punk band Hunter Valentine. With the release of their debut CD The Impatient Romantic this past April, this empowered female trio has earned great reviews for their live show and their CD produced by Julius “Juice” Butty (Alexisonfire, Protest The Hero). The band are to play an invited CMJ date at Fat Baby in NYC and then are off to Saskatoon starting October 24 through to Windsor ending November 21. (For full tour-dates scroll down)

Since the April release the women of Hunter Valentine have played close to a hundred shows including some large summer music festivals and slayed many an audience. Lead singer, stunner Kiyomi McCloskey is continuously being compared to Joan Jett, Patti Smith, Chrissie Hynde. Pretty fine female front-mothers. McCloskey certainly has the balls, charisma and incredible talent these women also possess and that is why the comparisons.

The response is always the same after a HV show. You will love to watch this band live and are ecstatic that this female trio rocks hard and tight. Drummer Laura Petracca, raised in a family of drummers takes no prisoners and makes her family damn proud. Classically trained Adrienne Lloyd’s bass playing and piano put the band in a place where musicians are coming to their shows and leaving in love.

Hunter Valentines two debut video’s were both added directly to MuchMusic’s video flow and still enjoy rotation within the station. The first video/single for Typical was the Buzzclip of the week for 3 weeks in a row knocking off The Artic Monkey’s for the title.

The band heads out on a national tour with Social Code touring rock venues and campus’s plus many shows on the tour are all ages.

WHAT THE MEDIA ARE SAYING

This anticipated debut full-length from Toronto’s Hunter Valentine drags you into tainted lullabies and hoarse pleas for remorse. It will leave you bruised, battered and blubbering, and just as soon you catch your breath you’ll want to go through the whole thing again. The Impatient Romantic deserves no words less than stunning, astonishing and unbelievable. Vocalist Kiyomi McCloskey’s voice gets caught in the light that shines through the rips and snags, transforming every word into a churning, soulful howl that blends with the rupturing bass lines and garage-inflected guitarsExclaim

Lead singer Kiyomi has a killer voice and a tremendous stage presence. She also plays a mean guitar. As for sound, think Tegan and Sara with a Distillers-like punk energy”. Two Way Monologues

The singer, Kiyomi McCloskey, gave me a hard-on listening to her. She certainly has what it takes to make it big in this industry, as her voice is sultry sexy. She sounds like a cross between Joan Jett and Melissa Etheridge yet the band has their own rock-pop style that is making them one of the city’s hottest new bands,Fab Magazine
